Not sure Germany is the one?

The dMAT is Germany's door. There are thirteen others.

Germany asks for the dMAT. Sweden, the Netherlands, Ireland and ten more do not — and their deadlines fall in different months, so a good plan usually spans several countries rather than betting on one exam.

How the dMAT actually works

Straight from the official g.a.s.t. notification and preparatory materials — no jargon.

PART 1

Core Module

Three independently-timed subtests, 25 minutes and 20 questions each: Figure Sequences (pattern logic), Mathematical Equations (solve small systems for an unknown), and Latin Squares (grid-based deduction). You cannot return to a subtest once its 25 minutes is up.

PART 2

Subject Module

90 minutes of stimulus-based, single-choice questions — for most Indian applicants this is the "General Academic Module." g.a.s.t. publishes the time limit but not a fixed question count, so we clearly label our estimate rather than presenting it as official.

FORMAT

Digital, single-choice, no notes

Taken on-screen at a g.a.s.t. test centre. No calculators, scratch paper, or notes are allowed during the test — so practising without them actually matters.

SCORING

Two numbers on your certificate

A percentile rank and a dMAT score on a 0–200 scale with a fixed mean of 100. Universities set their own cut-offs — there's no universal pass/fail.

Figure Sequences20 questions · 25 minutes — official, confirmed
Mathematical Equations20 questions · 25 minutes — official, confirmed
Latin Squares20 questions · 25 minutes — official, confirmed
Subject Module90 minutes, question count not published — we use ~30 as a practice estimate
Total exam time≈3 hours, plus a 30-minute break between modules
2-minute check

Do you actually need to take the dMAT?

The dMAT is being introduced into the APS process for specific applicant groups. Answer two quick questions for an instant guide — then always reconfirm with the official notification before you rely on it.

What's tested

Section-by-section syllabus

Our mocks are built question-type by question-type to match this exactly — and the Core Module sections use the real, official question counts.

Figure Sequences CORE · 20 Q

25 min · pattern logic
  • Identify the rule governing a numeric/alphabetic sequence
  • Arithmetic, geometric, Fibonacci-style and alphabet-shift progressions
  • Tests pattern extrapolation under time pressure

Mathematical Equations CORE · 20 Q

25 min · simultaneous equations
  • Small systems of equations with letter variables
  • Solve for the value of one specific unknown
  • No calculators — speed and substitution accuracy matter

Latin Squares CORE · 20 Q

25 min · grid logic
  • 4×4 grid where each symbol appears once per row/column
  • Deduce the missing symbol at a marked cell
  • Pure deductive reasoning, no prior knowledge needed

Subject Module ~30 Q · practice set

90 min · applied knowledge
  • General academic + data-science/CS fundamentals track
  • Matrices, Boolean logic, data types, dimensionality reduction
  • Stimulus + single-choice questions, application-based

Test 1

Before you begin

This is an attempt to prepare you and simulate the real dMAT exam experience. Question types, timing and structure are modelled closely on the official notification, but we do not guarantee that this is 100% identical to the actual exam. Always treat it as practice, not a substitute for official information.
CORE MODULE ONLY

60 questions · 75 min (Core Module)utes

  • 20 Figure Sequences (25 min)
  • 20 Mathematical Equations (25 min)
  • 20 Latin Squares (25 min)
  • Each subtest is separately timed — no going back once time is up, matching the real exam
FULL TEST

≈90 questions · ≈2h45m + break

  • Everything in Core Module, plus
  • ~30 Subject Module questions in 90 minutes (estimated count)
  • An untimed break screen between modules, like the real 30-minute break

Core Module complete

In the real exam there is a 30-minute break between the Core Module and the Subject Module. This screen isn't timed — continue whenever you're ready to begin the Subject Module.

dMAT Mock Test 1

Simulation notice: This is an attempt to prepare you and simulate the real dMAT exam experience. Question types, timing and structure are modelled closely on the official notification, but we do not guarantee that this is 100% identical to the actual exam. Always treat it as practice.
Strictly timed
Each Core Module subtest has its own 25-minute timer. The timer runs automatically once you begin a section — you cannot pause it.
🔒
Single attempt
Once you submit a test, it is permanently locked. You can review answers and solutions afterwards, but cannot retake it — exactly like the real exam.
📵
No calculator or notes
The real dMAT does not allow calculators, scratch paper, or notes during any section. Practise without them to build authentic exam readiness.
➡️
No going back between sections
Once a section's 25 minutes is up, it automatically closes and moves to the next. This mirrors the real exam's locked-subtest format.
Single-choice only
Every question has exactly four options and one correct answer. There is no negative marking — answer every question, even if you are guessing.
📊
Full review after submission
After you submit, you will see a performance dashboard with your score, section-wise breakdown, percentile estimate, weak/strong areas, and detailed solutions for every question.
